When a potential customer searches online for your service or product, are you the obvious choice, ?
Is your business the one that stands out with exceptional reviews, an informative Google Business Profile, or a strong ranking in search results?
Here are some tips on how to answer these questions.
Review Your Google Business Profile
It’s easy enough to look at your Google Business Profile to see if it’s up to snuff. Make sure your business name, address and phone number are up to date. Take advantage of the ability to add your business hours and include the holidays when you are closed.
Google allows you to write a thorough description of your business, and you can also add social-media style posts to let Google and your potential customers know how you help.
Finally, how do your reviews compare to those of similar businesses in your area? Ideally, you’ll have more reviews, more recent reviews, and a higher overall rating than your competitors. Always respond to reviews, good or not-so-good. It shows people you care about your customers.
Get Some Outside Help
Evaluating your position in search engine results takes a little extra effort. Avoid searching yourself for your business, especially if you're searching from your business location. The results could be distorted because Google knows your search history.
Instead, get some independent help. Ask a friend to search using terms you expect your customers would use. Make note of where you rank and how your competitors rank. Also note whether your business shows up in the “map pack” (a complete Google Business Profile helps with that).
There’s a tool at Spyfu.com that can help you get a read on where your business website ranks for certain keywords. It’s free to use the tool, with limitations.
Another option is to seek help from your friendly, neighborhood digital marketing expert. A good digital marketer can lead you through a deeper look at your website, your Google Business Profile, reviews and online directory listings.
By implementing some basic recommendations, you can become the obvious choice for prospective customers.
Until next time
You might have noticed there was no newsletter two weeks ago. A slower-than-expected recovery from some minor surgery, along with a death in my family, knocked me off my game.
The next newsletter arrives May 20. This week is National Nurses Week, and today is National Nurses Day. It’s hard to understate the value nurses bring to our healthcare. (Have I mentioned my wife is an amazing nurse?)
May 11 is Mother’s Day, and May 13 is National Apple Pie Day.
Until next time, be grateful. Be generous. Be patient. Love.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me, . I appreciate you.
Mark
